PROJECT LEADERSHIP WEBSITE FOR PSPC

Banner Bilingual.jpg

Client: Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC)

Audience: Internal employees of PSPC

Software used: Adobe XD

Purpose:

  1. To build a website to encompasses PSPC Project Leadership and aid Project Leaders

  2. Educate people about the role of the Project Leader within PSPC

  3. Provide links to key documents, information, and other websites/GCDocs/GCpedias etc.

  4. Provide department updates that will affect the role of the Project Leader

Problem: Within PSPC, the role of a Project Leader is very important, they manage and execute federal real estate projects. But:

  • The definition of a Project Leader was very convoluted

  • Important information that Project leaders needed was scattered and only found by word of mouth

  • Each week there are new updates and policy changes that affect the role of a Project Leader

  • To add more complexity, each region across Canada conducted Project Leadership differently than here in the capital region

Our job was to change all of this, to centralize and streamline the information to be the one-stop shop for new project leaders, senior project leaders, and employees taking on the project leader function.

Hi-fi Prototyping

Because our audience is all 14 000 of PSPC’s employees, the best way to conduct user testing is to make the website as real as possible but also to consult as many project leaders as possible. Which is why I chose Adobe XD because the software creates a usable link that makes for easy forwarding and offers the option for other users to make comments.

We designed this website with three personas in mind:

  1. A new project leader

  2. A Senior project leader

  3. 3. A PSPC employee who has to take on the role of a project leader.

I conducted several interviews with individuals who fit this profile to better understand their needs and show them the prototype website, I gathered their opinion and the qualitative data and re-iterated my website numerous times.

Unfortunately, due to competing priorities, my Project Leadership website had to be put on hold. But within the span of 5 months, I’ve learned this much and am much excited to learn more.
